Restricting what someone can post in Twitch chat

Pre-approving trusted content to bypass your auto-moderation helps you automatically remove potentially harmful content from your Twitch chat.

Adjusting who this whitelisting applies to can also act as an additional reward for your community members, increasing engagement and loyalty.

A whitelist of trusted links allows any pre-approved URLs to bypass your link message filter.

Follow these steps to add a trusted link:

  1. Open the «Moderation» menu from the main menu, then select «Whitelisted links».The moderation main menuThe moderation main menu
  2. Add your link at the bottom of the menu in the «Whitelisted link...» input.Pre-approving trusted linksPre-approving trusted links
  3. Click the «Add» button to add your link.

Plain site

twitch.tv

This approves the links «twitch.tv» and «www.twitch.tv» only.

All sub-domains

*.twitch.tv

Similar to the «Plain site» example, but using the «*» wildcard also approves links with any sub-domain, such as «app.twitch.tv», «clips.twitch.tv», or «anything.twitch.tv».

Specified path

twitch.tv/moobot

This approves the links «twitch.tv/moobot» and «www.twitch.tv/moobot» only.

All paths

clips.twitch.tv/*

This approves any link from the «clips.twitch.tv» domain, including any path, such as «clips.twitch.tv/Kappa» and «clips.twitch.tv/Kappa/Keepo».

All paths after specified path

clips.twitch.tv/moobot/*

This approves any link from the «clips.twitch.tv» domain with the path «clips.twitch.tv/moobot», including extended paths like «clips.twitch.tv/moobot/Kappa» and «clips.twitch.tv/moobot/Kappa/Keepo».

Entire domain

*.twitch.tv/*

By using the «*» wildcard for both the sub-domain and the path, Moobot approves the entire «twitch.tv» domain, including all of its variations.

Pre-approving clips from trusted Twitch channels

A whitelist of clips from trusted Twitch channels allows clips created on those channels to bypass your link message filter.

Follow these steps to add a trusted channel:

  1. Open the «Moderation» menu from the main menu, then select «Whitelisted clips».The moderation main menuThe moderation main menu
  2. In the «Add a channel...» input at the bottom of the menu, enter the name of the Twitch channel you want to whitelist, then select the channel or press the ENTER key.Pre-approving clips from trusted Twitch channelsPre-approving clips from trusted Twitch channels
  3. The whitelisted Twitch channel will now appear in the «Current channels» list.

Restricting who will be pre-approved

You can set which users are allowed to post your whitelisted links or Twitch clips from trusted channels by selecting their user groups in the «Users who can post...» dropdown.

In addition to the «Normal users» option, which allows anyone to post your whitelisted links or clips, you can restrict access to the following user groups:

  1. Moobot regulars
  2. Twitch subs
  3. Twitch VIPs

Note that a user only needs to belong to one of the selected user groups to post your whitelisted links or clips.
