Chat commands with multiple names in chat
Aliases allow your chat commands to have multiple names. This eliminates duplicate chat commands and duplicate responses.
For example, you can create a chat command named «!Social» and also trigger it in Twitch chat using the aliases «!TikTok» and «!Instagram».
This allows you to edit the response for all aliases from a single place.
Adding a chat command alias
Follow these steps to add a chat command alias to your Twitch chat:
- Open the
«Commands»menu from the main menu, and then select the«Aliases»menu.
- Type the name of your alias in the
«Alias name»input at the bottom of the menu.
- Click the
«Create»button once you've entered a name for your alias. - In the edit menu for your new alias, find the
«Select the command type...»drop-down, and choose the type of chat command you want. This can be a custom or built-in chat command. - Select the chat command from the
«Select the command...»drop-down.
- Click the
«Create»button at the bottom of the menu.
Your alias is now available in your Twitch chat!
Creating advanced chat command aliases
You can create more advanced chat command aliases by activating the advanced options.
Follow these steps to access the advanced options:
- Open the
«Commands»menu from the main menu, and then select the«Aliases»menu. - Find your alias in the table and click the pencil icon button (labeled
«Edit») in your alias's row. This will open its edit menu. - Check the
«Show advanced options»box at the bottom of the menu.
Using default arguments with your alias
If you activate the advanced options, the «Default arguments» input will become visible in the edit menu of an alias.
By configuring default arguments for an alias, you can use the alias like «!Alias», and Moobot will interpret it as «!Alias your default arguments...».
This allows you to create shorthand commands. For example, you can create an alias «!lol», set its default arguments to «League of Legends», and link it to the built-in chat command «!Game».
When you use the alias «!lol» in Twitch chat, Moobot interprets it as «!Game League of Legends», which will set the game on Twitch to «League of Legends».
